the national roblox racing association
The NRRA was founded on August 21, 2016, by Roblox user BWWCupSeries. What began as a small racing league quickly became many Ro-Racers’ first introduction to the hobby, fostering a welcoming and competitive community from the start.
Initially built around simple mesh-bodied cars, the league expanded rapidly. By 2017, NRRA had grown into three competitive divisions: the Walmart Cup Series, Mello Yello Series, and Kobalt Truck League, marking a major step forward in both structure and participation.
In March 2018, the second-generation NRRA car was introduced—a blocky recreation inspired by the real-life NASCAR Xfinity Series stock car. While often remembered as bulky and difficult to drive, many drivers look back on this era as the peak of NRRA racing, defined by close competition and memorable moments.

Over time, the league experienced a gradual downturn. Divisions were shut down, drivers retired, and fan interest began to fade. On July 28, 2022, ownership of the NRRA was transferred to matt_bottles, marking the beginning of a new chapter.
Under Matt’s leadership, the league saw a resurgence. Numerous changes were introduced that sparked a second period of growth, including the debut of the third-generation NRRA race car, the return of the second division, and a renewed emphasis on closer, tighter, and more competitive racing.
However, not all chapters last forever. On August 10, 2023, matt_bottles stepped down as NRRA host. His departure created uncertainty across the league, leaving drivers and fans questioning the future of NRRA.
Those questions were answered just three days later. On August 13, 2023, BWWCupSeries returned to the NRRA as host, founder, and owner. BWW went on to host the remainder of Season 25, followed by Seasons 26 through 29. During this period, the fourth-generation NRRA race car was introduced, ushering in the next evolution of the league.
During Season 29, speculation began to grow that it might be the final chapter of the NRRA. On September 4, 2025, an announcement confirmed that a 30th season would take place, hosted by BWWCupSeries, before ownership would be transferred to a new group.
Former NRRA racers kobaalt and jasondotjpeg had purchased the league in August 2025, setting out to prepare something new—a spark intended to bring the NRRA back to life. However, once Season 29 concluded, communication went silent. No announcements, no updates—only radio silence.

Everything changed on January 1, 2026.
On that day, ownership of the NRRA was transferred earlier than expected. kobaalt and jasondotjpeg officially assumed control of the league, effective immediately, marking the beginning of a new era. With the transition complete, the two moved quickly, working with a dedicated team of developers, designers, and Hunter to begin rebuilding the league from the ground up.
Work resumed without delay. Behind the scenes, systems were refined, plans were reimagined, and a renewed vision began to take shape—all with one goal in mind: to bring the NRRA back for both drivers and fans. This effort was not about erasing the past, but honoring it while pushing the league forward.
The NRRA lives on. The same name. New faces. And an unrivaled legacy built on nearly a decade of competition, community, and passion for racing.
